Executive Coordinator: Sue Mitchell Metz, RN, BSN, MS
Sue Mitchell Metz is a local community member and dedicated advocate for mental health and suicide awareness with a goal to eliminate stigma associated with mental illness. Sue is licensed as a RN, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, as well as a Masters Degree in Organizational Leadership and a Masters Degree in Thanatology. At SSM Health, Sue is Program Coordinator for the Care for Caregivers Program, working to improve psychological safety for employees, which will compliment her role as Executive Coordinator for NAMI FDL. Sue is also an adjunct instructor for EMS courses at Moraine Park Technical College, and volunteers with Bo’s Heavenly Clubhouse, YScreen, and the Mental Health Action Team as part of Healthy Fond du Lac County Coalition.
Sue dedicates much of her free time as a volunteer helping those who have lost a loved one to suicide, suffer with suicidal ideation, or are in crisis. She facilitates local support groups, including Survivors of Suicide Loss Support Group, a group for children who have lost a sibling or parent through death, NAMI Peer Support Group, and leads workshops related to grief and loss. Sue has been open in sharing her personal story and experience publicly, including radio and television interviews. She is married to Steve, has 3 adult children, Ryan, Mariah, and Brydan, and a granddaughter, Cyanne, who consumes her time when she is not working, camping, or volunteering. Sue brings with her empathy and understanding, as she, too, is a survivor of suicide loss. Sue does all of her work in honor and memory of her son Ryan, who died by suicide.
